How do we offer such a broad line of rings? It starts with Hastings having an on-site dedicated piston ring foundry. We utilize our on-site foundry and shell molding process to cast iron with properties beneficial to installation, break-in and long-life. The vertical integration gives us control of quality and the entire value chain from poured metal, machined to tight tolerances and special coatings and packaging. These capabilities help us maintain a high-mix- low volume production process with a manufacturing velocity that minimizes cost, enabling us to offer a high-quality product at an unbeatable value.

On-site Gray and Ductile Iron Foundry
- Hastings on-site gray and ductile iron foundry utilizes the premium shell mold process Tighter dimensional tolerances, better surface finish, smaller draft angles, and near net shape castings result in less machining stock
- Induction melting for high efficiency, low emissions and accurate control of temperature and composition
- Proprietary and application specific material grades available
- In-house parametric CNC pattern making allow for wide range of pattern sizes and shapes to utilize the accuracy of the shell mold process
- Burning resin during pour creates an anti-oxidizing atmosphere and slows the surface cooling rate, promoting a homogenous casting
- Overall high throughput, cost effective casting process
- In-house lab with dedicated carbon, spectroscopic, and microhardness tester used in conjunction with SPC
