At Hastings Manufacturing, we know piston rings, and we want to pass that knowledge on to you. In this video, we’re going to cover the installation of 3-piece oil rings.

When you open the box, you will see that each section is labeled with a 1, 2 or 3. For the oil rings, take out the rings marked 3, which are the rails and flex vents. You will have twice as many rails as you have flex vents.

The first step is to place the spacer in the groove.

Then, spiral the first rail into the groove below the spacer, followed by the remaining rail into the groove above the spacer. Make sure your gaps are staggered at least an inch apart.
